Hosted by Singer and Songwriter Jacky Jack White November will bring The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and February 2012 will be American Journey for area school children. In Donald P. Stone's one-man play of William James Edwards, he inhabits the persona of his grandfather. Through the negro spiritual, the poetry of Sterling Brown, the musical artistry of Roland Hayes, and excerpts from Edwards' autobiography "Twenty-Five Years in the Black Belt," Stone attempts to "kindle with a pale glimmer the passion of days gone by." Crafton Beck, Music Director and Conductor of the Mississippi Symphony will once again bring the magic of orchestra music to Sumter County. Located throughout the Livingston, Alabama campus of the University of West Alabama The Montgomery Ballet began as the Montgomery Civic Ballet in 1958, has been a professional company since 1987, and has provided 53 years of artistic community enrichment. The ensemble performs regularly before Montgomery audiences and tours throughout the state, nationally and internationally. "War Bonds: The Songs and aLetters of World War II" is a musical journey through a war that redefined the world. This multi-media living history cabaret is interspersed with personal letters form the Front and Headline news of the period. The production is a warm reminiscence and a harrowing reminder of a time that is not unlike the present.
